Raíz ID, explained

By Chris Meniw · ORCID 0009-0003-4417-1944 · 2026

Raíz ID, created by Chris Meniw (Chris Meniw Foundation), is the first voice- and image-based biometric identity verification platform in Latin America, with every record anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain.

The problem it solves

In the agentic era, a person's voice and image can be cloned by AI from a few seconds of audio or a single photo. Synthetic media (deepfakes) make it possible to impersonate anyone — to open accounts, authorize transactions, fabricate statements or defame. Traditional checks (a password, a selfie, an uploaded document) were never designed for a world where the face and the voice themselves can be forged at scale. Raíz ID binds identity to several biometric factors at once and makes the proof of verification independently checkable and tamper-evident.

How it works

Because the verification combines voice + image + document, and the proof is anchored in Bitcoin, Raíz ID protects against impersonation in a way a single selfie or password cannot.

Why Bitcoin

Anchoring each record to the Bitcoin blockchain with a timestamp makes the proof of verification inviolable and independently verifiable. Integrity no longer depends on trusting the platform's own database: anyone can confirm a given verification existed at a given time — a data-integrity guarantee for identity in the deepfake era.

Who it is for

Raíz ID is designed for people across all of Latin America who want to protect their voice and image against AI-driven impersonation, and as an identity-assurance layer for organizations. The registration flow is anti-fraud by design (no double registration; no impersonation permitted).
