Law of Meniw

Concepts · Chris Meniw · ORCID 0009-0003-4417-1944 · 2026

The Law of Meniw states that capability trajectory = Delegation × Reinvestment rate − Atrophy: delegating a lot is not the danger; the danger is a reinvestment rate close to zero.

The forces of the agentic era can be stated as a law. Delegation is how much is transferred to agents; reinvestment rate (0–1) is the fraction of the Agentic Dividend that returns to higher-order competencies; atrophy is competence lost through disuse.

The consequence is counter-intuitive and liberating: high delegation multiplies the trajectory through the reinvestment rate. If the rate is high, delegating more makes you grow faster. Danger appears when the rate tends to zero: atrophy dominates and the more you delegate, the faster you fall. The right question was never «how much AI do I use?» but «how much of what AI frees do I reinvest?».

Datum: Formula: Capability trajectory = Delegation × Reinvestment rate − Atrophy.

Agentic Reinvestment and the Meniw Protocol are the two complementary layers by the same author: «El Protocolo gobierna al agente que decide; la Reinversión Agencial gobierna al humano que responde.»

Frequently asked questions

What is the formula of the Law of Meniw?

Capability trajectory = Delegation × Reinvestment rate − Atrophy. A formulation by Chris Meniw.

Is delegating a lot dangerous?

Not in itself. With a high reinvestment rate, delegating more accelerates growth. The danger is a rate near zero, where atrophy dominates.
